Joey Essex gives harsh assessment of opponent before boxing debut

DAZN
Misfits X Series 22 - TONIGHT - only on DAZN PPV

British reality star Joey Essex did not hold back on the state of his opponent ahead of making his Misfits Boxing debut.

Essex will lace up the gloves for the first time tonight, live on DAZN PPV, when he takes on Numeiro at Manchester's AO Arena

For Numeiro, this is just his second fight after losing to Kalin Simeonov by stoppage two years ago. Essex was not too impressed by what he saw when preparing for this contest.

"I’ve seen this geezer’s last fight, he’s terrible," Essex said in an exclusive interview with DAZN

"It was two years ago so he’s probably been training more and I hope he has."

If Essex is to become a mainstay in Misfits, he needs to produce an eye-catching performance and the best way to do that would be with an explosive knockout.

However, while Essex is eager to get the knockout, he is hoping Numeiro can pose a tough enough test which can take the four-round contest into the latter stages and allow Essex to showcase his skills in the sweet science.

"I want to put on a show, I’m not here to knock this geezer out in round one. It might happen if he flops, I want to put on a show, I want to put on a proper fight.

"If I do knock him out in round one, I hope he gets up, and I can’t wait, I’m excited."

Essex's debut is a part of an exciting Misfits 22: Ring of Thrones card which will also feature former UFC stars Darren Till, Luke Rockhold and Tony Ferguson.
