Josh Padley has the chance to cause a monumental upset this weekend when he faces Shakur Stevenson on only three days' notice.

Padley, who is no stranger to flipping the script after shocking Mark Chamberlain last year, is taking on one of boxing’s best fighters with world title glory on the line.

The fight, part of the huge Last Crescendo show that is being shown live on DAZN, sees several high-profile clashes all taking place on the same event.

One fight that failed to make the final show was Stevenson vs Floyd Schofield as the latter was pulled from the card after suffering from illness

That misfortune for the American has opened up a door for Padley and the Yorkshireman is more than ready to capitalise on this golden chance.

Initially, Padley had been in the frame for a number of fights later this year with Dalton Smith just one name mentioned by his manager, Tom Stalker.

The former fighter who captained his country at the 2012 Olympics has expertly guided Padley up the rankings and he is delighted to have secured a showdown against Stevenson on the grandest stage.

“Listen, it’s only a few days away but Josh is gonna go in there and have a proper go,” said Stalker when speaking exclusively to DAZN News

“The type of lad he is, I knew he would go head first into this challenge and though I’m happy to have got him a big payday that will change his life, Josh is going in there to win, and he wants that belt.

“He had no fight lined up even though we were discussing a couple and all he’s been doing is a bit of crossfit and ticking over.

“He knows this is a major chance to change his life and career, and I know he won’t let anyone down.”
