Mario Barrios has told fans to “expect an explosive fight” when he takes on Ryan Garcia on Saturday.
Barrios defends his WBC welterweight title against Garcia at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and the champion is full of confidence ahead of the showdown, which is live and exclusive on DAZN PPV.
In an interview with The Ring, Barrios was in a bullish mood ahead of this weekend’s bout and he is expecting fireworks when he clashes with Garcia.
“I’m just ready to go out there and put on a show,” he said.
“I’m very excited. It has been a great camp, it’s been a long one, so I am just ready to step in there now.”
An intriguing subplot for this championship contest is that Barrios is now training under Joe Goossen, who used to be Garcia’s head coach and has been labelled a traitor by his former pupil.
The move has certainly ruffled a few feathers and Barrios admits working with Goossen has been all that he expected it to be.
He added: “So far, yes, it has been.
“We’ve done some tremendous work together, our styles match up very well and I’m ready to go out there and show everything that we’ve been working on.
“I feel like I’ve really tightened everything up. I feel like some of the defensive flaws that I had, picking up the work rate and everything. I feel like overall, in every field, I’ve been making improvements.”
The WBC welterweight world title is on the line this Saturday - Feb 21 - as Mario Barrios and Ryan Garcia go toe-to-toe, exclusively on DAZN. Buy the PPV as a one-off cost or get included with DAZN Ultimate Tier.
