Ryan Garcia admits neither he or Mario Barrios can afford to lose their bout, adding that a third loss for both is "too much".

Las Vegas plays home to a WBC welterweight title bout between the pair next month, live and exclusive on DAZN PPV.

Garcia arrives on the back of a May loss to Rolly Romero, while Barrios edged a draw with the returning Manny Pacquiao.

Both men are now sporting two reverses, and at Thursday's press conference, the former suggested both men were driven by it.

"It doesn't even sound good," he said. "Two is cool. Three is too much. Two, you can work with it, and build from that.

"But three, it's like, damn, you're really losing. I don't want to get this third loss at all, and he doesn't want to get it.

"It's debatable that he lost his last fight, even if it was called a draw. At the end of the day, I think we don't want to lose.

"We're both at this moment. People don't think it's going to be one of [those fights]. I think it is. It will be very bloody."

Does third defeat spell last-chance saloon?

DAZN News correspondent Andrew Steel

There's more than just a world title at stake for Ryan Garcia and Mario Barrios when they cross paths in Las Vegas next month.

The former spoke up his desire to avoid a third loss on his record, and his rival will be just as keen to avoid another defeat too.

Barrios has not actually lost since 2022, with both of Garcia's reverses - and that no-contest with Devin Haney - in the interim since.

But with two draws in his last two bouts to narrowly retain his strap, his stock has taken something of a blow in the public's eyes.

It may explain why Garcia appears to be the favourite - but both men will surely put everything on the line when they tackle this test.
