Roy Jones has urged Canelo Alvarez to forget about a rematch with Dmitry Bivol at 175lbs.
Canelo returns to action on May 3 , live on DAZN , when he fights in Saudi Arabia for the first time against William Scull.
The Mexican icon has the opportunity to become undisputed ruler at super-middleweight for a second time and victory is likely to set up a showdown with Terence Crawford later this year .
Canelo and Crawford have been on a collision course for nearly two years, and it looks like the pound-for-pound superstars could meet in September.
Other options for Canelo could appear at light-heavyweight including fights with David Benavidez and Dmitry Bivol.
In 2022, Bivol became only the second man to defeat Canelo when he outpointed him in Las Vegas causing a huge upset.
The pair have been linked to a rematch on several occasions, but Jones believes Canelo should look elsewhere when plotting his next move.
Jones, a former world champion at light-heavyweight, believes Canelo should only take that contest at the weight he currently operates at.
“No [on light-heavyweight rematch] if it's at 168 yeah, said Jones when speaking to Boxing Social .
“He looks good at 168 so if you wanna do it you gotta do it at 168 but not at 175.”
