Skye Nicolson acknowledged she was glad to recover her 2025 record after victory over Yulihan Luna on Saturday.

The Australian seized the WBC interim super-bantamweight title with a comfortable unanimous decision in Stockton.

Nicolson started the year with her first professional loss, losing her WBC featherweight crown to Tiara Brown in March.

But after dropping down a division, she has now won three on the bounce and took pride in her success afterwards.

“It’s been a big year. It didn’t start the way I planned, but we finished it very nicely tonight,” Nicolson said in the ring.

On her opponent, she added. “I’m grateful to [her]. I wanted to be in a real fight. She was a really tough Mexican fighter.”

Nicolson will now bid to build on her return to winning ways, with her eyes on unified champion Ellie Scotney for 2026.

The English star currently holds all but one of the major belts in the division, including the full WBC crown her rival wants.

Many wondered if Skye Nicolson's decision to step down from featherweight was the right call after her first pro defeat.

Now, the former Tokyo 2020 contender appears to have silenced her critics after recording a string of sturdy victories.

The Australian is arguably still yet to be truly tested at this level, but these aren't Christmas cracker-esque results either.

Ellie Scotney will represent a new tier of operator, but Nicolson will surely back herself to rise to the challenge at hand.

Success will make her a two-weight world champion - and from there, unification opportunities could loom for her too.
