Later this month, in an event to be shown exclusively on DAZN, former UFC star Darren Till will take on Luke Rockhold in a boxing match.

The event is to be held at the Manchester Arena. Till, who switched from MMA to boxing earlier this year, has a record of 2-0 (1).

For Rockhold, the evening will mark his debut within the ring, having moved from MMA where he held, according to Sherdog, a record of 16-6. His last fight in MMA came at UFC 278 in August 2022, when he dropped a unanimous decision to Mike Beltran. Since then, he has competed once in bareknuckle boxing, winning a TKO over Mike Perry in 2023.

It would appear, however, that Rockhold may not have been Till’s first choice of opponent.

Till, in December, said on Twitter that Froch was a ‘----bag’ and that he had done ‘nothing’. He also warned Froch to keep Till’s name out of his mouth.

In January, Froch said that he had been offered the Till fight but had turned it down due to the lack of preparation time.

Back in May, as Till was readying to fight Darren Stewart, he decided to engage in frequent, barbed social media comments aimed at former world super-middleweight champion Carl Froch, 33-2 (24).

Responding to the repeated barbs, Froch said on Twitter: “There’s a guy called Darren Till. He’s been calling me out, chatting **** basically. Someone sent me a clip of him fighting someone called Jorge Masvidal.”

The Nottingham former fighter was referring to Till’s loss by knockout to Masvidal in the UFC in 2019. After the Masvidal defeat, Till fought four more times in the UFC, winning one and losing three.

Froch said of Till’s knockout by Masvidal: “He’s been absolutely ****ing ironed out by Jorge Masvidal with half a punch that’s clipped him on the chin.”

Froch went on, fantasising what would happen if the pair were to meet.

“It would be an absolute ****ing wipeout, game over,” he said. “The problem is for Darren Till is that I’ve been retired for eleven years. I’m not interested. I don’t want to fight any more. Don’t call my name out to give yourself credence. Listen, if the money was there and it was big enough, I’d certainly take a look at it. But for now, Darren, one—you’d get ****ing demolished, and two—there’s no real bunce in it. Just pipe down about the Cobra’s name.”

Till went on to offer his reply, also through Twitter.

He wrote, “Can’t wait to snap that fat big ****ing disgusting nose soon.”

Later on, Till had more to say following his victory over Darren Stewart.

He told iFL TV that he was willing to fight Froch in his next bout, saying that the fight ‘could happen’.

Till went even further, saying that while he had talked a lot of ‘----‘, he also gave him a lot of props.

However, he also said at the time that he would easily pull Froch’s head off his shoulders, no matter what Froch’s ‘boxing mates’ were there.

“There’s a big difference between boxing and MMA,” Till said. “If I wanted to kick your head in, punch your head in, elbow your head, or grab you and squeeze you to death, there’s nothing you could do about it.”

Till, who was evidently driving a car while making the video, went on to say that he would attack Froch in public if he saw him.

A month later, Till tweeted that he wanted to knock Froch out in a boxing ring at what he called the ‘right weight’. He then said that he was going to knock Liam Cameron, 23-7-1 (10), out as well.

So, provided Till gets past Rockhold, we should see again soon the reinvigoration of the feud between Till and Froch.
