Tony Bellew explains what Canelo Alvarez has to do to beat Dmitry BivolDAZN

Tony Bellew believes that Canelo Alvarez must be back to his best if he wants to be sure to beat Dmitry Bivol.

The pair fought in May as the Mexican looked for his second light heavyweight title but he was outgunned by his opponent who pulled off a convincing victory.

Alvarez is reportedly keen on a rematch but first he will fight Gennadiy Golovkin, shown live on DAZN PPV in the U.S., Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand as well as around the world on DAZN (excluding Mexico, Latin America, and Kazakhstan).

However if a second fight is made, former world champion Bellew believes Canelo will need to be at the top of his game to succeed.

Speaking about Canelo on the DAZN Boxing Show, he said: “Must do better, Some will say that’s the matches he’s making. You want to set the standard so high? You’ve got to maintain it and stay there. He’s amazing, he’s still up there pound-for-pound.

“Everyone took him out the pound-for-pound list when he lost to Bivol. Absolutely not, he remains right up there for me. But there’s some things he has to do better. If he’s on his ‘A’ game that night he fights Bivol, I think he beats him. He wasn’t on his ‘A’ game so he has to do better.”
