Former world champion Tony Bellew believes Daniel Dubois is not the biggest puncher in the heavyweight division ahead of his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk at Wembley Stadium.
Dubois, 22-2 (21), has developed a reputation as a fearsome knockout artist and stopped Anthony Joshua to retain his IBF title last September.
He also knocked down Usyk, 23-0 (14), with an attempted body shot in their first fight two years ago, but the punch was controversially ruled a low blow and the Ukrainian bounced back to finish the Brit in the ninth round.
Dubois has troubled everyone he has shared the ring with, but Bellew still feels he does not possess the power of former heavyweight champion, Deontay Wilder.
Asked by Darren Barker who the heaviest hitter in boxing’s blue-riband division is during a debate for DAZN, Bellew replied: “With one shot, Deontay Wilder. With one shot, no one hits harder than Deontay Wilder.
“If you were to put these guys on a machine, I’m telling you know, he’s a freak, Deontay Wilder.”
Wilder held the WBC title between January 2015 and February 2020, and all but one of his 44 professional wins have come via knockout.
However, he has lost four of his last six contests, a run which includes two defeats by Tyson Fury.
This has seen him drop out of title contention but Bellew is still adamant he is capable of taking out anyone with a single shot.
Wilder returned with a low-key victory over fellow American Tyrrell Herndon last month, and a long-awaited fight with Joshua has been mooted for later this year or 2026.
Wilder will turn 40 in November and is determined to remain active as he eyes one final shot at heavyweight gold.
