Tony Bellew is a huge admirer of Moses Itauma and he has identified the man who should be in the opposite corner to the heavyweight prospect the next time he fights.

Last year, Itauma proved without doubt that he is one of the fastest rising names in boxing as he produced a stunning finish to destroy Demsey McKean in the opening session.

The 20-year-old improved his ledger last month when he welcomed Mike Balogun to Britain and further demonstrated his power as he was successful in the second session.

Last weekend it was reported Itauma will next face Dillian Whyte with the showdown against the former world title challenger set to take place in August

Whyte will be the biggest test of Itauma’s career up to this point after sharing the ring with the likes of Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua, and Joseph Parker, but he will still enter this potential contest as a big underdog.

Bellew, who briefly campaigned at heavyweight in a memorable series with David Haye, has called on Itauma to face Jermaine Franklin, the American contender who went the distance with Whyte and Joshua.

“The world’s his oyster. I just think don't go too quick too soon. Because once you step past the mark, there's no going back,” said Bellew when speaking to Betideas.com

“So, for someone like Moses, I think the most important thing at the stage now is rounds. He’s not getting rounds against fighters who should be giving him rounds. Franklin could give him the rounds. I like the Franklin fight for him. I just think he's an exceptional talent. He's got to be managed correctly.”
