Ty Mitchell says he "puts some value" on a title under the Misfits promotion as he bids to become a two-weight title holder at Misfits 22 – Ring of Thrones on DAZN Pay-Per-View.
The MF Pro Light Heavyweight champion challenges for the MF Pro Super Middleweight against the IBF-ranked Sean Hemphill at Manchester's AO Arena on Saturday night.
Mitchell will bid to score the biggest win of his career thus far against a foe who saw off Mark Jeffers in his last encounter, even as critics debate the legitimacy of the Misfits brand.
But speaking exclusively to DAZN News, the 34-year-old acknowledges it would be a dream to become a two-time MF champion while pushing for more respect on the name.
"I'd like to be the first," he admits. "I believe this is the first ten-rounder on a Misfits card, and I'll be the first person to fight for two titles at the same time.
"I'm not giving up the light-heavyweight title. I'm keeping that. If I defend it, I defend it. I want to try my hardest to win a world title, but I put some value on a Misfits title.
"People will laugh at it, and say it's not a proper title, but it can become a proper title. If you boxed a world champion with this, they're going to take it if they win.
"My ultimate goal is to get up the rankings, to fight, fight, fight. I'm very cautious of my age. I'll be 35 in a few months.
"I don't have the luxury of a long career, so it is full steam ahead, head down, and take risks."
