Zurdo Ramirez vs Yuniel Dorticos - Zurdo Ramirez challenges pound-for-pound star for world title

Gilberto 'Zurdo' Ramirez looks to make a successful first defence of his unified cruiserweight title against Yuniel Dorticos this Saturday live on DAZN PPV.

Appearing on the undercard of Jake Paul vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, a successful defence of the WBA and WBO world titles will likely set Ramirez up for a long-awaited unification fight with IBF champion Jai Opetaia.

Cruiserweight is not the only weight division where Ramirez has challenged for world honours. In 2022, Ramirez faced WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol with the aim of becoming a two-weight world champion.

Unfortunately for Ramirez, he was coming up against an opponent in Bivol who is a genuine pound-for-pound talent. 

Over 12 rounds in Abu Dhabi, Ramirez offered very little threat with Bivol's superior footwork and speed keeping him in control throughout.

'Zurdo' has since gone on to become a two-weight world champion after success at cruiserweight and is now eager to become an undisputed ruler at 200lbs.
