Fighters Carl Froch and Darren Till have taken to social media to trade barbs with one another.

Recent days have seen Till, 2-0 (1), make repeated insulting comments about Froch, now retired for eleven years and largely working as a commentator. Now, Froch has fired back, scoffing at the idea that the former UFC fighter represents a challenge for him.

Froch, 33-2 (24), said on Twitter: “There’s a guy called Darren Till. He’s been calling me out, chatting **** basically. Someone sent me a clip of him fighting someone called Jorge Masvidal.”

The Nottingham former fighter was referring to Till’s loss by knockout to Masvidal in the UFC in 2019. After the Masvidal defeat, Till fought four more times in the UFC, winning one and losing three. Last week, Till had his second professional boxing match when he beat Darren Stewart on points over eight rounds in Derby.

Froch said of Till’s knockout by Masvidal: “He was asleep. Has he woke up yet? Somebody find Darren Till. Has he woke up? Can you imagine someone like Darren Till calling me out? He’s been absolutely ******* ironed out by Jorge Masvidal with half a punch that’s clipped him on the chin.”

He added: “Can you imagine if a professional boxer as myself—my sort of level, you know what I’ve done and where I’ve been. Can you imagine if I hit him with a right hand or a right uppercut straight on the Vera Lynn? It would be an absolute fucking wipeout, game over.”

Froch went on: “The problem is for Darren Till is that I’ve been retired for eleven years. I’m not interested. I don’t want to fight any more. Don’t call my name out to give yourself credence. Listen, if the money was there and it was big enough, I’d certainly take a look at it. But for now, Darren, one—you’d get fucking demolished, and two—there’s no real bunce in it. Just pipe down about the Cobra’s name.”

Till, said Froch, needed a reality check after both the Masvidal loss and the recent bout in Derby against Stewart.

In response to Froch word’s, Till offered a succinct response, also on Twitter.

He wrote yesterday: “Can’t wait to snap that fat big fucking disgusting nose soon.”

Last week, Till had more to say following his victory over Darren Stewart.

He told iFL TV that he was willing to fight Froch in his next bout, saying that the fight ‘could happen’.
