Group G (Al Ain FC, Juventus FC, Manchester City, Wydad AC)

Al Ain (United Arab Emirates)

Overview: The two-time Asian kings had a torrid time in their title defence in the recently completed campaign, losing six and drawing two of their eight fixtures. They also finished fifth in the domestic campaign and so will be aiming to make up for those disappointments on the global stage.

They certainly have the firepower to make a real go of things with Kodjo Laba ($6.2m) remarkably scoring 20 goals and grabbing four assists during the recently completed campaign while Moroccan star Soufiane Rahimi ($6.0m) wasn’t far behind with 15 goal contributions in 26 outings.

At the other end the club made a headline signing by bringing in Portuguese keeper Rui Patricio ($5.0m) on a short-term deal from Atalanta and he could present good value for a defence that may be tested.

Key contributors: Kodjo Laba ($6.2m), Soufiane Rahimi ($6.0m)
Value picks: Rui Patricio ($5.0m), Yahia Nader ($5.3m)
Set-piece takers: Alejandro Romero ($5.6m), Kodjo Laba ($6.2m)
Top picks: Soufiane Rahimi ($1.2%), Abdulaziz Bashir (0.9%), Rui Patricio (0.9%)

Juventus (Italy)

Overview: A fourth-place finish in Serie A was the culmination of a mixed campaign for a Juve side that played out a division-high 16 draws last term.

Igor Tudor’s men will be eager to put on a stateside show, starting with progress from their group. Fresh from scoring ten league goals, Dusan Vlahovic ($7.5m) is set to lead the line for the Old Lady while starlet Kenan Yildiz ($7.3m) provided 11 goal contributions and is another asset that appears well-priced.

At the other end, wing-back Andrea Cambiaso ($5.3m) could offer both attacking and defensive returns while keeper Michele Di Gregorio ($5.3m) is a popular option.

Key contributors: Dusan Vlahovic ($7.5m), Kenan Yildiz ($7.3m)

Top picks: Andrea Cambiaso (5.9%), Michele Di Gregorio (5.0), Francisco Conceicao (4.9)

Manchester City (England)

Overview: By their own very high standards City’s recently completed domestic campaign counts as one that failed to meet expectations, and head coach Pep Guardiola said as much on numerous occasions.

The club wasted little time in improving their squad and in Rayan Ait-Nouri ($5.7m), Rayan Cherki ($7.1m) and Tijjani Reijnders ($6.5m) they have new arrivals who could make an immediate impact at the Club World Cup.

With such a wealth of attacking options, choosing between the likes of Erling Haaland ($11.0m), Omar Marmoush ($8.0m) and Cherki could make a real difference to fantasy title aspirations.

Key contributors: Erling Haaland ($11.0m), Omar Marmoush ($8.0m)
Value picks: Rayan Cherki ($7.1m), Tijjani Reijnders ($6.5m)
Set-piece takers: Erling Haaland ($11.0m), Omar Marmoush ($8.0m)
Top picks: Josko Gvardiol (30%), Erling Haaland (22.8%), Omar Marmoush (21.2%)

Wydad AC (Morocco)

Overview: Wydad’s 22 league titles make them the undisputed kings of Moroccan football but they face a new challenge against a pair of European giants and an ambitious Al Ain outfit.

The Casablanca outfit do offer some affordable fantasy options, led by 11-goal league top scorer Mohamed Rayhi ($4.7m) and fellow forward Cassius Mailula ($5.3m).

At the other end of the pitch, central defender Jamal Harkass ($4.1m) has the potential to grab some attacking returns from set-piece situations in addition to any defensive tallies he may accrue.

Key contributors: Mohamed Rayhi ($4.7m), Cassius Mailula ($5.3m)
Value picks: Jamal Harkass ($4.1m), Thembinkosi Lorch ($4.0m)
Set-piece takers: Mohamed Rayhi ($4.7m)

Group H (Al Hilal, FC Salzburg, CF Pachuca, Real Madrid C. F.)

Al Hilal (Saudi Arabia)

Overview: Al Hilal will carry the hopes of Saudi Arabian football at the global showpiece and aim to impress in a group that they are more than capable of progressing from.

With new boss Simone Inzaghi at the helm, the Blues should look to keep their attacking instincts intact while also aiming for a defensive solidity to make a deep run.

At both ends of the pitch there are value options with Aleksandar Mitrovic ($7.5m) plundering 20 league goals in the previous campaign, the superb Salem Al Dawsari ($5.6m) teeing up 16 and Yassine Bounou ($5.0m) providing plenty of clean sheets.

Key contributors: Aleksandar Mitrovic ($7.5m), Salem Al Dawsari ($5.6m)
Value picks: Yassine Bounou ($5.0m), Renan Lodi ($4.5m)
Set-piece takers: Salem Al Dawsari ($5.6m), Marcos Leonardo ($4.0)
Top picks: Salem Al Dawsari (6.4%), Joao Cancelo (4.7%), Yassine Bounou (4.2%)

FC Salzburg (Austria)

Overview: The 17-time Austrian champions have bossed their domestic league for many years so a third-place finish in the recently concluded campaign was below their lofty expectations.

In a tough group, the Thomas Letsch-led outfit still present some fantasy options, notably Dorgeles Nene ($6.3m) who provided 21 goal contributions and Oscar Gloukh ($6.1m) who was the team’s second top scorer, with ten, in the past season.

Central midfielder Takumu Kawamura ($5.0) is a hard-working option who could add tackle points to any potential goals and assists while Petar Ratkov ($5.8m) also created plenty of chances during the recently concluded campaign.

Key contributors: Dorgeles Nene ($6.3m), Oscar Gloukh ($6.1m)
Value picks: Takumu Kawamura ($5.0), Petar Ratkov ($5.8m)
Set-piece takers: Oscar Gloukh ($6.1m), Dorgeles Nene ($6.3m)

Pachuca (Mexico)

Overview: It has been a tough term for the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup victors, with Pachuca finishing 16th in the 18-team opening league phase and then eighth in the closing section.

That perhaps sees the club enter as group outsiders, but if veteran forward Salomon Rondon ($6.0m) can replicate the kind of form that saw him grab 15 goals and five assists in the previous campaign then they’ll be in with a shout of progressing.

The 12-goal contributions provided by Oussama Idrissi ($6.0m) and the 11 tallied up by John Kennedy ($6.0m) also have that pair featuring as appealing options.

Key contributors: Salomon Rondon ($6.0m), Oussama Idrissi ($6.0m)
Value picks: John Kennedy ($6.0m), Elias Montiel ($4.2m)
Set-piece takers: Elias Montiel ($4.2m), Salomon Rondon ($6.0m)
Top picks: Carlos Moreno (0.8%), Israel Luna (0.8%), Pedro Pedraza ($5.0m)

Real Madrid (Spain)

Overview: Spanish, European and global royalty are set to shine stateside and choosing which of their plethora of megastars to pick is sure to be a challenging task.

At the top of the list is the most popular option in the game in Kylian Mbappe ($11.0m) although Vinicius Junior ($11.0m) and Jude Bellingham ($9.3m) are all also popular picks.

Perhaps the most intriguing options are the two new defensive arrivals in full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold ($6.4m) and centre-back Dean Huijsen ($5.2m) who offer both attacking and defensive returns.

Key contributors: Kylian Mbappe ($11.0m), Vinicius Junior ($11.0m)
Value picks: Trent Alexander-Arnold ($6.4m), Dean Huijsen ($5.2m)
Set-piece takers: Luka Modric ($6.2m), Arda Guler ($6.5m)
