Still in mid-season, Flamengo are red-hot heading into their opening match of the tournament. The Rio de Janeiro club are unbeaten in eight matches across all competitions, most recently thumping Fortaleza 5-0 to maintain their perch atop the Brazilian Serie A standings.
They face an Esperance side in arguably even better form, as the Tunisian champions finished their 2024-25 campaign on an 11-match undefeated streak.
With both teams playing great football, this match could deliver fireworks.

Flamengo vs. Esperance will take place at Lincoln Financial Field, located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
"The Linc" is the long-time home of the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles and is a frequent host venue for international football, with matches from several editions of the CONCACAF Gold Cup having being held there, as well as games in the 2003 FIFA Women's World Cup, 2016 Copa America Centenario, and high-profile friendlies.
The Rio giants are at their best this season, ruling the roost in the ultra-competitive Campeonato Brasileiro before heading north to take on the best in the world.
With a one-point lead in their domestic championship, Flamengo now aim to translate that success to the global stage, and they've added experienced midfielder Jorginho from Arsenal to shore up their side ahead of what they hope is a long run in the United States.
Previous XI: Rossi; Varela, Danilo, Ortiz, Alex Sandro; Evertton, Gerson; Luiz Araujo, De Arrascaeta, Everton Cebolinha; Bruno Henrique
As noted, Esperance finished their campaign with a run of 11 unbeaten, propelling them to a four-point victory in the Tunisian top flight.
Wrapping up the league title also gave Esperance a domestic treble, although their success did little to stop the coaching carousel as the team employed no less than four managers during the campaign.
Such turbulence could derail a lesser side, but the capital city club continued their dominance and now they look to turn heads at the Club World Cup.
Previous XI: Memmiche; Derbali, Bouchniba, Jabri, Ogbelu, Jelasi, Konaté, Ben Hamida, Jbeli, Guenichi, Mokwana

The draw is 4/1

When two in-form sides meet in a competitive match, it's usually the most talented team that comes out on top.
In this case, Flamengo boasts a dizzying array of names that rivals many big clubs in Europe, and as long as they are on the same page they should be favoured to claim the three points.
Prediction: Flamengo 2-0 Esperance
