The 2025 MLS season culminates in its championship match on Saturday, and the star power is on full display as Inter Miami host Vancouver Whitecaps.
On one side, you have Lionel Messi's Miami side looking to win one more trophy before Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba hang up their boots. On the other is a deep, well-balanced Whitecaps team led by German World Cup winner Thomas Muller.
A lot of focus will be on Messi vs. Muller, as the two stars have clashed numerous times for both club and country since 2010. But the match will also feature two squads capable of scoring in bunches, and with a trophy on the line there will be little to hold them back.
For Miami, this is their second final of the year after they fell in the Leagues Cup deciding match to Vancouver's nearby rivals from Seattle. Meanwhile, the Whitecaps are in their third final of 2025, having fell at the last hurdle of the CONCACAF Champions Cup and winning in the Canadian Championship.

“The credit is theirs [the players]. I’d highlight the last two months - they’ve been incredible. But the merit goes to the players for convincing themselves of where we wanted to go. We’ve reached the end of the season with a brotherhood inside the team, everyone pulling in the same direction, and the power of a group is unbreakable. We’re on the verge of playing the game we dreamed of, at home, with our people.”

"They've brought in some top-level talent. To be honest, it looks like a more polished, balanced team than the one we've faced before.
"Let's not kid ourselves, they have game-changing players. Messi can obviously turn a game on its head in an instant. And then there's Alba and Busquets, who we know very well from last time.
"It's the cup final. You wouldn't expect anything less than a strong opponent on the other side, would you?"
This doesn't look to be a defensive chess match, as neither side are going to be cagey.
Miami aren't capable of playing anything other than on the front foot, albeit with a premium on possession, while Vancouver will look to hit early and often from their dynamic front four.
The Herons are much more balanced than when these teams met in the CONCACAF Champions Cup semifinals in April, and the Whitecaps now have a bonafide superstar of their own who has a history of success against Messi.
Miami have scored three or more goals in nine straight games at Chase Stadium, winning eight of them, so the home field advantage is a big one for the Florida side. However, the Whitecaps have scored in their last four matches away from home home, so I'd expect goals from both sides in this one.
With all of that in mind, Miami's attack in familiar confines may be slightly too much for the makeshift Vancouver defence, despite their stellar play in recent weeks.
