1998-99

Manchester United 1-1 Juventus
Juventus 2-3 Manchester United (agg: 3-4)

Manchester United looked out of the tie just 11 minutes into this second leg against Italian giants Juventus as they went 2-0 ahead on the night thanks to a Filippo Inzaghi brace, but Sir Alex Ferguson's team showed the spirit that typified the era.

The comeback was led by a captain's performance from Roy Keane, who, despite knowing he was going to miss any potential final after receiving a booking during the game, drove the Red Devils to victory.

He headed in a David Beckham corner, before goals from Dwight York and Andy Cole turned the tie around and set United on their way to a famous treble.

Real Madrid 2-1 Juventus
Juventus 3-1 Real Madrid (agg: 4-3)

Having led Madrid to the Champions League the previous season, Zinedine Zidane was looking to repeat the trick as he came up against his old side, Juventus, in the final four.

The first leg went to plan, with Real taking a 2-1 lead to Turin, but the Italians refused to be beaten.

They turned the tie on its head with a 3-1 home win thanks to goals from David Trezeguet, Alessandro Del Piero and Pavel Nedved, who won the game for the Old Lady, with Gigi Buffon even saving a Luis Figo penalty, too.

Real Madrid 0-2 Barcelona
Barcelona 1-1 Real Madrid

Not quite the roller-coaster ride of some Semi-Finals, but when the El Clásico goes continental, then it's always a must-see, especially at the final stages of the Champions League.

As was the case at the time, the first leg was all about Lionel Messi. The Barca number 10 was in full on GOAT mode at that point, and he netted twice in Madrid to basically settle the game and prove his worth as the best around.

Pedro put the tie to bed in Barcelona and saw the Catalans through at the expense of their rivals.

Tottenham 0-1 Ajax
Ajax 2-3 Tottenham (agg: 3-3, Tottenham win on away goals)

These nights seem ever further away for Spurs fans right now, but it was one of the rare occasions when things actually did pan out for the North London club, against all odds.

Ajax took a 1-0 lead from the first leg in London back to Amsterdam, and the tie looked dead and buried when Matthijs de Ligt and Hakim Ziyech put them 2-0 up in the return leg.

Cue Lucas Moura. The Brazilian went on a one-man mission to send Spurs to the final, scoring a second-half hat-trick, with the pivotal away goal coming in the 96th minute to spark pandemonium amongst the players and staff.

Barcelona 3-0 Liverpool
Liverpool 4-0 Barcelona (agg: 4-3)

Lionel Messi looked to have weaved his magic once again when the Argentine inspired a comfortable 3-0 win over Liverpool in this first leg, including scoring a sumptuous free-kick for the Spanish side.

However, on one of those Anfield European nights, Liverpool turned the game around with one of the biggest results in the club's long, illustrious history.

A brace each from Georginio Wijnaldum and Divock Origi saw the Reds stun Barca with a 4-0 win, which included the cheekiest corner routine ever seen in the Champions League to send Merseyside into raptures.

Manchester City 4-3 Real Madrid
Real Madrid 3-1 Manchester City (agg: 6-5)

These two teams have built up an annual get-together in the Champions League, but this Semi-Final in 2022 is still the most enthralling of all their recent endeavours.

Manchester City got the better of the first leg, shading a game full of attacking prowess that saw them take a 4-3 lead to the Bernabeu.

Riyad Mahrez then looked to have wrapped the game up, but a late double from Rodrygo sent the tie into extra time, where Karim Benzema finally settled proceedings from the penalty spot.

Barcelona 3-3 Inter
Inter 4-3 Barcelona (agg: 7-6)

A slugfest between two of Europe's big guns, which ebbed and flowed throughout the two legs, but eventually saw the Italian's prevail.

Barca managed to fight back from 2-0 down in both games and went into the lead in Milan thanks to Raphinha's goal, but couldn't stop Inter from stealing the win.

Francesco Acerbi forced extra-time, before Davide Frattesi bagged a late winner amid the chaos at the San Siro.
