Former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder is set to return to the ring on June 27.

This was confirmed to ESPN by promoters Nelson Lopez and Joshua Chasse of Global Combat Collective who confirmed that Wilder will be facing Tyrrell Herndon in Wichita, Kansas. The fight will be contested over 10 rounds.

Wilder has not fought since he was brutally knocked out by Zhilei Zhang last June after losing to Joseph Parker at the end of 2023.

The American, who is also known as the 'Bronze Bomber', gained a reputation for being one of the most devastating punchers in heavyweight boxing.

His trilogy of fights with Tyson Fury is considered by many boxing fans as one of the greatest in recent memory. The first fight was scored a draw before Fury won the subsequent two meetings.

For Wilder, this clash with Herndon will give him the chance to get his first win since a first round knockout against Robert Helenius three years ago.

Herndon, who will be in the opposite corner, boasts a 24-5 (15 KOs) professional record, and won his last fight in May against Rudy Silvas with a split decision.
