Moses Itauma will fight on the Josh Taylor vs. Ekow Essuman undercard in May, says promoter Frank Warren.
Itauma (11-0, 9 KOs) is one of boxing's rising stars and was most recently in action against Demsey McKean in December, when he earned a first-round TKO victory to retain the WBO Inter-Continental heavyweight title and win the vacant WBA International and Commonwealth Silver heavyweight titles.
According to Queensberry boss Warren, the plan was to have Itauma follow that victory up with a fight next month as part of the Joe Hoyce vs Filip Hrgovic "Heavy Impact" card, but a potential opponent fell through.
“We were looking to get him out on April 5 but that hasn’t happened,” Warren told The Ring Magazine.
Instead, the 20-year-old will make his 2025 debut against an unnamed opponent in the May 24 event, available live worldwide on DAZN.
“Now it is looking like Scotland for him and we are looking to announce that next week," Warren said. "It will be a good chance to take him up there for the first time so he can show everyone what he can do. We are looking at options for an opponent now.”
