Tommy Fury is in danger of being left behind by Darren Till and Misfits Boxing

Misfits X Series 22 - Saturday - only on DAZN PPV

Manchester has become the home of the biggest events Misfits Boxing has to offer, and that continues Saturday, live on DAZN PPV .

Taking place at the AO Arena, Darren Till and Luke Rockhold will meet in the main event of Misfits Boxing 22: Ring of Thrones, with UFC legend Tony Ferguson, Salt Papi and Joey Essex also set to feature on the undercard.

But there is one glaring omission from this lineup, Tommy Fury.

Two years ago, at the same arena, Fury went head-to-head with KSI on Misfits Boxing: The Prime Card in an event which broke into the mainstream. A chaotic build-up saw both men placed inside cages to avoid any violent confrontation before fight night.

Fury would triumph in the six-round contest and with the mass audience the bout generated, he was arguably the biggest star in Misfits.

However, Fury has not stepped into a Misfits ring since the win over KSI.

This long exile looked set to end at the start of this year when he was scheduled to face Darren Till in a contest which had already reached boiling point. Then came the news Fury pulled out following threats from Till that he would kick his foe in the head if the fight was not going his way.

The build-up to Misfits Boxing events can be unsavoury and often riddled with serious threats, but for someone like Fury who is no stranger to sharing the ring with outgoing personalities such as Till, KSI and even Jake Paul, the decision to withdraw was one which was mocked.

Fury has fought since this withdrawal, a unanimous decision win against Kenan Hanjalic in a fight which went under the radar.

Till on the other hand has grasped his chance to fight for Misfits with both hands. He has two wins from two, and his outspoken demeanour is quickly making him the face of the promotion, replacing Fury.

‘TNT’ has made no secret that he wants to continue his career in ‘proper’ boxing after becoming a big-name celebrity following an appearance on reality television show Love Island. His ability unfortunately is one which many believe will not even be good enough for British title level, therefore, Misfits is surely the road to go down to receive the vast financial rewards which will come with it.

If Fury is to return to Misfits, then the door is quickly closing on the most logical fights to make.

The obvious is a re-arranged clash with Till. The initial fight was going to be big, but after the withdrawal and Till’s success in the ring, it has become even bigger.

If Till gets past Rockhold unscathed, then there is a real chance Fury-Till could happen towards the end of the year in a marquee Misfits Boxing event.

This fight could be one to set up future big fights in Misfits for Fury, but he does not have long to make the decision about a return to crossover boxing's premier promotion.

Till is an unpredictable character and has often teased a return to MMA despite enjoying his time in Misfits. Therefore, if Fury is to get his man, then he will need to call him out in the immediate aftermath of the Rockhold fight to begin his return.

On the other hand, if Fury continues to be reluctant to take these fights, then there is a real danger he could become the forgotten man.

Misfits Boxing as an entity waits for no one, just like the ‘always on’ nature of social media, there is always a desire to find the new trend and Fury is in danger of quickly becoming yesterday’s news if he does not get back in the Misfits ring imminently.
