Usyk manager issues brutal three-word verdict on Dubois ahead of undisputed title fight

Oleksandr Usyk's manager Sergey Lapin has called Daniel Dubois a "one trick pony" ahead of their fight for the undisputed heavyweight title on July 19. 

Taking place at Wembley Stadium and exclusively live on DAZN, Usyk will attempt to unify his WBA, WBC and WBO belts with Dubois' IBF title. 

This will be the second time Usyk and Dubois have met after the former beat Dubois by stoppage two years ago, but 'Dynamite' has improved significantly since then. 

Dubois' punching power has been a vital to this recent run of success with his fifth round knockout against Anthony Joshua being the highlight. 

 

However, while Lapin was willing to praise Dubois' power, he believes this is his only asset and makes him an easy foe to face. 

"Daniel Dubois is a good young guy with a strong punch, but that’s where it ends for him," Lapin told Norske Bettingsider.

"A heavy punch is his main asset. He is a one trick pony. He’s had a couple of decent fights, I was even present at his bout against AJ, but let’s be honest, Dubois didn’t win that fight, AJ simply lost it.

"If you look at Usyk, he’s got speed, fast footwork, an incredible boxing background, and his timing speaks volumes. Boxing is like fast chess, to win, you need to read your opponent."
