Will Tyson Fury stay retired? Former Fury rival gives his verdict

The next move of Tyson Fury is still unknown, but it appears that the former world champion is still retired as no news has emerged regarding a potential fight.

Earlier this year, Fury shocked the world when he announced his time in boxing was over despite many believing that he was heading towards a showdown with Anthony Joshua

Last year, Fury was defeated twice by Oleksandr Usyk as he lost his world title before failing to win it back in an immediate rematch

Usyk was a worthy winner in both contests, but despite the Ukrainian taking both contests, Fury was able to make both fights competitive throughout.

Starting 2025 seemingly heading into battle with Joshua, his longtime rival, Fury appeared to have huge opportunities in front of him, but those plans were postponed when he announced his retirement.

David Price, who defeated Fury in the amateur code and was regularly linked to a professional fight with him, knows his old foe well, and he has given his verdict on whether we could see Fury fight again?

“I think he’s a man who needs a purpose,” said Price when speaking to DAZN News via BonusKoodit.

“Unless he’s started doing something else that gives him that purpose, you can have all the money in the world, but it won’t make a difference to how he’s feeling. He’s had money for a long time, and he could’ve retired three or four years ago, but he’s needed that purpose.

“I still think he’s going to need boxing in his life. I can’t see what can replace boxing for any fighter. It’s irreplacable once it’s gone and for some fighters it’s more difficult to adapt.

“The Usyk fights, there was nothing in them, and he’s shown he’s still got it. Why not continue? I think boxing gives him what he needs, but I’m just on the outside looking in.”
