Robert Garcia knows Anthony Joshua well following a brief spell where he trained the former heavyweight champion of the world.
One of boxing’s most esteemed coaches, Garcia is the latest to deliver his verdict on this month’s intriguing clash that will see Joshua welcome Jake Paul to heavyweight.
Still very much a leading contender at heavyweight, Joshua is aiming to make 2026 a big year as he is targeting a lucrative showdown with Tyson Fury as well as a rematch with Daniel Dubois.
The Watford man has been inactive since September 2024, but he is heavily favoured to deliver an impressive display against Paul, and he starts the contest a significant favourite.
Joshua’s grand plans for 2026 can only materialise if he looks impressive against Paul, and Garcia expects his former student to do the job as long as he is focused.
“I think he should knock the s—t out of Jake Paul but f—k, in boxing you never know man,” said Garcia when speaking to ES News .
“It’s not like something I’m making up. People have already questioned Anthony’s head, his mind. People have questioned that, but if it’s a solid Anthony, a confident Anthony, he’s gotta knock the s—t out of [Jake Paul]."
