New Ravens’ head coach Jesse Minter didn’t waste time explaining why he chose Baltimore over other NFL suitors.
Asked about quarterback Lamar Jackson during his introductory press conference, the 42-year-old called his quarterback “the best player in the National Football League.”
The former DC of the Los Angeles Chargers, whose appointment was endorsed by former Ravens’ head coach Jon Harbaugh, explained that he "wants to put a team around him [Jackson] that allows him to reach that ultimate goal of bringing a Super Bowl back to Baltimore."
Despite recovering from a disastrous 1-6 start to the season, the Ravens failed to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2021. Minter arrives with a clear plan to get Baltimore back to winning ways.
"We will build a true team built on toughness, fundamentals, that plays together," Minter continued. "We will work to be the best team in the National Football League. And we will be at our best when our best is needed."
Minter said taking the Ravens job was never a difficult decision. “This was the one that I wanted,” he outlined. “Knowing the history, knowing the tradition, knowing the spine of the organization, kind of what it’s built on, there was no better place for me.”
That foundation, in Minter’s view, starts with Jackson. A franchise built on consistency, toughness, and winning now hands its future to a coach who sees its quarterback as the standard for the entire league - and isn’t shy about saying it.
