NFL 2025 postseason recap: misses, playoff outcomes and Super Bowl LX result

How much fun were the NFL playoffs? There were highlights galore, big scorelines, defensive slugfests, and everything in between.

That edge-of-your-seat action carried over into Super Bowl LX, where a defensive masterclass and late-game mayhem kept us entertained throughout.

Here’s a quick reminder of how the 2025 NFL season came to a close, from the teams eliminated before the playoffs even began, to those knocked out along the way, and the final outcome of Super Bowl LX

Super Bowl LX

The Seahawks defeated the Patriots 29-13. Seattle's 'Dark Side' defense dominated for much of the game, sacking Drake Maye six times and forcing three turnovers.

With 135 rushing yards, tailback Kenneth Walker was named the Super Bowl MVP, becoming the first running back to earn the gong in 28 years.

Going 5/5 on field goals, Seahawks' kicker Jason Myers set a new Super Bowl record.

Mike Macdonald, Sam Darnold, and co. finished top of the toughest division in football, beat all comers in the postseason, and won the second Super Bowl in franchise history.

Advanced to Super Bowl LX

NFC:

• Seattle Seahawks (14-3). Defeated the Los Angeles Rams in a surprisingly high-scoring game to claim the NFC title and reach the final two.

AFC:

• New England Patriots (14-3). Overcame the Denver Broncos in a low-scoring affair to win the AFC title and reach the Super Bowl 

Eliminated in the Conference Championship

NFC: 

• Los Angeles Rams (12-5). Pushed the Seahawks hard, but Matthew Stafford and Co. ultimately came up short.

AFC: 

• Denver Broncos (14-3). The Broncos' defense stood tall, but Denver's Stidham-led offense was held in check against the Patriots.

Eliminated in the Divisional Round

NFC:

• Chicago Bears (11-6). Eliminated by the Rams.
• San Francisco 49ers  (12-5). Eliminated by the Seahawks.

AFC:

• Buffalo Bills (12-5). Eliminated by the Broncos.
• Houston Texans (12-5). Eliminated by the Patriots.

Eliminated in the Wild Card Round

NFC:

• Carolina Panthers (8-9). Eliminated by the Rams.
• Green Bay Packers (9-7-1). Eliminated by the Bears.
• Philadelphia Eagles (11-6). Eliminated by the 49ers.

AFC:

• Pittsburgh Steelers (10-7). Eliminated by the Texans.
• Jacksonville Jaguars (13-4). Eliminated by the Bills.
• Los Angeles Chargers (11-6). Eliminated by the Patriots.
