NFL announces first-ever Dublin regular season fixture with Pittsburgh Steelers confirmed as home team

The NFL is heading to Ireland after the league announced that they will play their first-ever regular season game in Dublin during the 2025 campaign. 

Iconic venue Croke Park will play host to the historic match, with the Pittsburgh Steelers confirmed as the home team in the 82,000-capacity seat venue, with their opponents to be revealed at a later date. 

This match will see Ireland become the latest stop in the NFL’s International Series, with games due to take in London, Madrid and Berlin next season, while Melbourne, Australia will host an LA Rams match in the first game of a multi-year agreement in 2026.  

"We are delighted to officially bring a regular-season NFL game to Ireland as part of our 2025 International Games slate," said executive vice president of international, league events and club business at the NFL Peter O'Reilly. "Both the NFL and the Steelers franchise have deep roots and history in Ireland, and we're looking forward to making our regular-season debut in Dublin, bringing our game to a large and passionate Irish fan base and underlining the NFL's commitment to global growth."

Steelers president Art Rooney II added: "We are very excited to be the designated team in the first regular-season game to be played in Ireland this upcoming season.

“The opportunity for the Pittsburgh Steelers to play in Ireland is truly special, not only because of the Rooney family history there, but also to play in front of the growing number of Steelers fans in Ireland. We are thrilled to be part of this historic event to represent Pittsburgh in a game that brings the NFL to the great sports fans in Ireland."

The Steelers already know who their home opponents for the 2025 campaign will be, meaning that one of the following sides will provide their opposition in Dublin: Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Buffalo Bills, Green Bay Packers, Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins, Minnesota Vikings and Seattle Seahawks.

Miami have been announced as the designated home team for the 2025 Madrid game, with the Colts hosting this year’s Berlin match. 

The three London games will be hosted by the Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Jets and Cleveland Browns.
