Frank Warren believes Derek Chisora's desire to leave everything in the ring has won him his fans, but hopes that the star calls time on his career this year too.
The Zimbabwean-British heavyweight star will contest a 49th professional bout against Otto Wallin in The Last Dance at Manchester's Co-op Live this Saturday, live on DAZN.
Del Boy is then slated to bring up his half-century later this year, in a testament to the 41-year-old's longevity and popularity despite a 35-13 professional record to date.
Warren believes his enduring appeal comes from his never-say-day commitment, no matter the test, but the promoter did admit to fears if he chooses to push on further still.
"The fans have got to like him more as he's got older, despite the fact he's got losses on his record," he told DAZN's The Ariel x Ade Show. "He's not had any easy jobs.
"He's fought everybody out there and the one thing he's always done is give everything he's got. That's what you get every time he gets into the ring.
"He doesn't leave anything outside, it's all left in there and the fans love him for it. I think we're going to get something similar on Saturday.
"I spent a few years pretty sure he was retired. Hopefully he'll come through Saturday.
"I don't want to see him carry on any longer [than the 50th] because every punch he takes is going to catch up with him as he gets older."
