Eddie Hearn believes that a third fight between Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev is the right contest to make meaning a trilogy could decide the series.
Last month, Bivol and Beterbiev delivered another classtic just four months after providing fight fans with an unforgettable encounter.
In October, Beterbiev was the better man as he produced a stunning finish in the final rounds to take the verdict on the scorecards.
The second time around, it was Bivol who finished stronger as he overcame a tough start to level the fascinating series at 1-1 .
In the immediate aftermath of their rematch, attention switched to what could be next for both men after numerous developments at light-heavyweight.
On the undercard of their rematch, Callum Smith put himself in contention for a title shot after a brilliant win over Joshua Buatsi .
Dabid Benavidez was in attendance for the show, and he will also want a crack at a title after defeating David Morrell earlier this year.
Several options exist for all the leading fighters, and Eddie Hearn, the promoter of Bivol and Smith, has given his thoughts on how things might play out.
“They should run it back, because it’s a brilliant fight. We also love Benavidez against Bivol. But for me, it will be the trilogy next,” said Hearn when speaking to BoxingScene.
“The problem for Beterbiev is that Bivol is going to be better. So, we’re very confident going into that fight. We’ve had some conversations around Benavidez-Callum Smith, and around Callum Smith against Morrell as well.”
