Frank Warren reveals huge name to face Joe Joyce as new era on DAZN gets started
Joe Joyce has been thrown a curveball ahead of his return to the ring after it emerged Dillian Whyte would be withdrawing from their contest .
The 2016 Olympic silver medalist will now co-headline a new era for Frank Warren, as the Hall of Fame promoter joins DAZN and starts with a huge heavyweight show.
Joyce will now face Filip Hrgovic at the Co-op Live Arena on April 5. Defeat for the former will surely mean any small hopes of fighting for a world heavyweight title will be gone forever.
In 2022, Joyce and Hrgovic appeared to be in a prime position to push on for glory in their divisison, but the pair have endured hardship inside the ring recently with 2024 being disastrous for both men.
Hrgovic was hoping to get one step closer to a world title, but those dreams were put on hold when he was stopped Daniel Dubois.
Later the same year, Joyce, aiming to breathe life into his career after two stoppage losses to Zhilei Zhang,, but he was sensationally beaten by Derek Chisora meaning his contest with Hrgovic is vital.
The heavyweight landscape is rapidly changing, and numerous contenders are pushing to challenge for the titles currently held by Oleksandr Usyk and Dubois.
One victory could open the door at such opportunities, and Joyce and Hrgovic are well aware of that as they get ready to do battle.
