Frank Warren identifies two major heavyweight contenders he is happy for Moses Itauma to face
Frank Warren may have some trouble matching Moses Itauma as the British prospect continues his march through the rankings.
This weekend, Itauma travels to Scotland as he faces Mike Balogun on the undercard of Josh Taylor’s welterweight debut against Ekow Essuman in Glasgow , live on DAZN .
Last December, Ituama made himself one of the hottest properties in boxing when he destroyed Demsey McKean in one round on the undercard of Tyson Fury’s rematch against Oleksandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia.
With a world title shot very much in his sights over the next 18 months, it is vital that Itauma picks up the required experience to become a success at the highest level.
Balogun will provide him with his next assignment, but after that, finding opponents for the menacing fighter could become problematic.
Frank Warren, the man guiding Itauma’s career, has plenty of experience of taking fighters to the top and he has had his say on what could come next for Itauma.
“Billy Nelson (trainer of Bakole) sent me a text about him making the fight at the end of the year or next year,” said Warren when speaking about Itauma to BoxNation .
“Moses is not sitting around waiting for him, is he. He’s gonna get on with his business and who knows, I would expect by the end of this year for Moses to have at least another three fights. I haven’t got to drum up Bakole in my job, I’m in the Moses Itauma business and that’s all I care about.
“I think that’s [Itauma and Hrgovic] also a good fight to make. I wouldn’t have a problem doing that sometime this year.”
