A new era for Frank Warren begins this week as he brings his thriving stable to DAZN .

The veteran promoter has staged some of boxing's biggest nights, but what is the best fight ever staged by Warren?

Here, the DAZN News Panel looks back at some amazing nights put on by the Hall of Fame promoter.

Usually when writing these contributions, it is from a writer’s perspective, but when it comes to my favourite show promoted by Frank Warren, it was Josh Warrington vs Carl Frampton at Manchester’s AO Arena, which I attended as a fan.

Taking place three days before Christmas in 2018, Leeds's Warrington facing Frampton for world featherweight honours was a pretty good early present.

The atmosphere is very hard to beat, with Leeds United fans, who Warrington, as a huge United fan, had inspire for years, and those from Northern Ireland creating a bearpit in the Northwest of England.

The fight itself delivered too, a brutal slugfest, which I thought would never be possible between two featherweights.

Warrington emerged victorious in the end, winning by unanimous decision that brought an end to one of the best fight nights I’ve been lucky enough to attend.

There have been so many memorable cards and memorable bouts promoted by Frank Warren, the veteran who has been creating champions for over 40 years and shows no sign of slowing down in 2025.

However, my personal favourite - in terms of drama and sheer ferocity – must be the October 2003 British title slugfest between Alex Arthur and Michael Gomez.

It’s quite simply one of the greatest fights ever staged on British soil, a brutal classic that ebbed one way and then the other.

Gomez – who looked a man possessed on the night with his maniacal stare and yellow Cleto Reyes gloves - upset the odds and a partisan Edinburgh crowd by ripping Arthur’s British super-featherweight crown from his grasp on a crazy night north of the border.

The Irish Mexican – who often failed to 'live the life’ outside of the ropes - won via fifth round TKO to inflict Arthur’s first ever professional defeat in what looking back was Michael’s last truly great performance.

It is almost impossible to provide an answer without wanting to change your mind at a later date, but for me it must go back to Nigel Benn vs Gerald McClellan, which I consider to be the greatest fight ever staged on British soil.

The tragic aftermath of the contest has rightly taken away so much of what transpired beforehand, but for pure drama, emotion, action, and unfortunately, sadness, nothing has come close to matching what those incredible warriors delivered in 1995.

Other personal favourites of mine include Matt Skelton’s heavyweight war with Martin Rogan in 2009 that pretty much defied belief and the Boxnation classic between Liam Walsh and Paul Appleby.

If Frank Warren’s upcoming era on DAZN can provide the quality featured in the above fights, then the next instalment of Frank’s story could be his best yet.

There is a case to be made for so many fights the Queensberry boss has brought to the world, but in the past decade, it is hard to look past Tyson Fury and the impact he has left on the heavyweight division.

There was certainly no shortage of drama in his first two fights with Deontay Wilder, but the pair's trilogy bout in late 2021 arguably topped what came before, as the two men went hammer and tongs at each other.

The iconography it delivered might not match up to Fury's miracle rise from the canvas in their first bout, but The Gypsy King's climactic knockout in the eleventh round will stand the test of time for fight fans across the decades.
