Joe Gallagher has laughed off suggestions that Lauren Price could be the female Oleksandr Usyk as he gets Nastasha Jonas ready for this week’s huge fight.
Jonas, a student of the famed trainer since turning professional, is fully aware of what it takes to step into the ring with boxing’s best operators and Gallagher believes his charge has faced bigger tests.

Their bout will headline a huge women’s show at the Royal Albert Hall and for Jonas, it is the chance to upset the odds. A role she is used to playing.
In recent years, Jonas has responded well to career setbacks and her position as world champion has seen her become one of women’s boxing’s most loved characters.
Adored in her home city of Liverpool, Jonas, who represented her country at the 2012 Olympics, has headlined several shows and won a variety of world titles.
After facing the likes of Katie Taylor and Mikaela Mayer, Jonas will now step into the ring with Price, a fighter, including her trainer Rob McCracken, have extremely high hopes for.
Gallagher is of the belief that his fighter has overcome much bigger challenges. He has been a confident figure all through the build-up.
“Where’s all this stuff about Lauren come from? Rob McCracken saying she’s the female Usyk,” said Gallagher during an exclusive chat with DAZN News .
“Have people not seen what Natasha has done in her career? What she’s come back from? Giving Katie Taylor one of her toughest fights, beating Mikaela Mayer. And she’s meant to be bothered about Lauren Price?
“This idea that Natasha is just there to turn up and pass the torch is nonsense and it’s disrespectful. Price has struggled with southpaws throughout her career. She’s been dropped, she’s been dropped in sparring.
“This fight will be a big test for Natasha, but she’s the fighter who’s been there and proved she can cope with these moments. If she turns up, then I fully believe she will get the win.”
