Michael Conlan will not have fond memories of the time he stepped into the ring with Leigh Wood.
In 2022, Conlan and Wood delivered the best fight of the year as they went at it for almost 12 tremendous rounds.
The Belfast man returned to action earlier this year to register a win, and although he is setting his sights on big prizes, it is another fighter from his home city who has his attention for the time being.
This weekend, live on DAZN , Anthony Cacace will travel to Wood’s backyard as two of boxing’s most entertaining fighters square off looking to display who is the best super-featherweight.
Conlan, who is rumoured to be facing Josh Warrington this year, has had his say on who will come out on top this Saturday.
“Anto is getting in there with proper momentum, proper activity and the belief of a champion. I believe Anto wins convincingly, possibly by stoppage because Anto also punches hard,” said Conlan when speaking to the Irish News .
“They both punch hard, yes, but I think Anto’s skillset is better. I think he’s the better boxer out of the both of them.
“Leigh’s been through the mill a lot of times now and there’s only so many times you can do that. I’m leaning heavily towards Anto in this fight.”
