Terence Crawford reacts to Canelo Alvarez's Riyadh Season deal
The boxing world woke up to huge news on Friday with the announcement that pound-for-pound superstar Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez has joined Riyadh Season.
His Excellency Turki Alalshikh has revealed that the Mexican fighter has signed a four-fight deal with two fights in 2025, and two bouts in 2026.
One of the 2025 contests that appears to be all but confirmed is a showdown with two-weight undisputed champion Terence Crawford who sent a message to Alvarez on X in wake of the news.
"I'm waiting on Canelo in September and going to shock the world in Riyadh Season!," Crawford wrote.
Last week, it was reported that a deal had been struck between Alvarez and Crawford, however, it then emerged yesterday the fight was off following rumours of Alvarez agreeing to face Jake Paul in May.
A clash between Alvarez and Paul has seemingly been put to bed with the Riyadh Season deal, and now it appears to be full steam ahead for Alvarez vs Crawford which will see two of this generation's best fighters go head-to-head in Las Vegas.
