Usyk vs Dubois 2 – Tony Bellew, Usyk’s old rival, makes big prediction for Wembley showdown
Tony Bellew knows what it takes to share the ring with Oleksandr Usyk, and he is backing his former rival to become undisputed heavyweight champion for a second time tonight, live on DAZN PPV.
Usyk faces Daniel Dubois in a rematch from their 2023 encounter, and he enters the bout in menacing form after scoring two wins over Tyson Fury last year.
In Dubois, Usyk is coming up against an opponent he knows very well, but a lot has changed since their first meeting, and Dubois’ recent climb to the top end of the division has been an incredible one.
Last September, again an underdog, Dubois shocked a sold-out Wembley Stadium as he dropped Anthony Joshua on multiple occasions before knocking him out in the fight’s fifth round.
That result caused a ripple at heavyweight and now some in the boxing community believe the Brit can go one further and defeat Usyk.
Bellew, who collided with Usyk in 2018, retired from the sport after his meeting with the Ukrainian, but he has since been impressed with what his nemesis has gone on to achieve.
Despite enduring two tough nights against Fury, contests that could have put more miles on Usyk’s clock, Bellew is still backing him to remain undefeated on Saturday night.
“I’ll be the first to say that what Daniel has done in his last few fights has been remarkable, but this is an altogether different test,” said Bellew when speaking to DAZN News.
“When Usyk beat him a couple of years ago it looked like it could’ve been the end for Dubois, but he has taken that defeat and used it to improve and push on so credit to him for that.
“The Joshua win shocked me but that result would've made Usyk take note and he will prepare for this like it is the biggest fight of his life as he cuts no corners.
“Dubois will have his moments, and he could even hurt or drop Usyk, but I just see Usyk knowing too much and being too smart. Usyk on points or a late stoppage like the first fight.”
