Don't expect fireworks at Thursday's Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn press conference in London. At least not of the physical variety.
Eubank and Benn kicked off the build-up to their highly anticipated April 26 bout on Tuesday with a viral moment during the customary face off, as the former smashed an egg into the face of the latter.
Naturally, the incident sparked a massive confrontation between the fighters' respective camps, with Eubank and Benn being pulled apart by security personnel.
The melee came during the first of two planned press conferences this week, with the next one set to be held at the venue of the fight, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. With tensions running higher than ever, Benn's promoter told BBC Sport that the rivals will be physically separated during Thursday's press event.
"It was always going to be a volatile build-up," Matchroom Boxing's Eddie Hearn said. "All bets are off now and we've got to be careful moving forward, particularly on Thursday at Spurs. We need to make sure we keep them apart.
"These [are] people, you don't forget that. It's not a case of sleep on it and calm down. We need to keep them apart because we won't get to April."
Hearn was steps away from the fighters during the face off and could be seen in the melee confronting members of Eubank's team. The Matchroom boss was vocal in his disapproval of Eubank's actions afterwards.
"The premeditated nature of the attack is not what I was a fan of," Hearn said. "We've done it before. Whether it's [David] Haye-[Tony] Bellew, very volatile fights in the past. We keep them away.
"We can't afford to keep them in distance of each other. Because as I say, it is attack on sight mentality [now for Benn]."
Hearn believes the fight could be in jeopardy if plans are not in place to keep Eubank and Benn apart in all pre-fight events going forward.
"I understand things can spill over," Hearn said. "But now we've just got to make sure they're kept apart.
"We've got to be careful. But at the same time we've got to continue the build-up, have the press conference at Spurs and make sure camps are aware we do have a code of conduct we need to follow."
A planned Wednesday face off involving the two fighters has already been cancelled, according to Ring Magazine.
