Matchweek 18 of the 2025-26 Premier League season ended with Tottenham Hotspur claiming an important 1-0 victory at Crystal Palace on Sunday, with teenager Archie Gray scoring his first league goal in the winning cause.
Spurs entered Sunday's match on the back of consecutive league defeats as their frustrating season continues, and the victory inches them closer to the top 10.
At the centre of attention is Gray, the 19-year-old who joined the North London side in 2024 after a breakout season in the Championship with boyhood club Leeds United.
Gray made his seventh appearance of the Premier League season on Sunday and made the most of it with his 42nd-minute strike, which was ultimately the difference as Spurs earned their joint-league best fifth win of the campaign.
"It's incredible, I don't know how to sum it up,' Gray told BBC Match of the Day immediately after the final whistle. "It's a feeling I have been waiting for a very long time.
"After 112 [career] appearances, I will give myself leeway because of the positions [I have played] but it's an incredible feeling. I think my family will be bantering me about how I have only scored now."
As monumental as Gray's first career goal was, Tottenham were in desperate need of a positive result and Sunday's win at Selhurst Park reinforced how much better the team perform on the road.
Regardless of where it took place, Gray revealed an overriding sense of relief throughout his team as they ended 2025 with a victory.Â
"That is a huge win, it was really important that we came away with three points it's a really important game for us," he said. "It was a scrappy game but good that we have the three points."
