Leeds United rode a dominant second half to a comeback 1-1 draw at Sunderland on Sunday, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin once again playing the role of goalscoring hero for the surging side.

After the Black Cats took a first-half lead at the Stadium of Light, Calvert-Lewin scored the levelling goal just two minutes into the final frame as Leeds flooded the attacking end.

And while they couldn't find the winning goal despite outshooting their hosts 17-6, Leeds left satisfied that their Premier League undefeated streak was extended to five games after Sunday's draw.

For Calvert-Lewin, his team's sudden purple patch matches that of his own, as the 28-year-old has scored in each of the last six league matches — becoming the first Leeds player to do so in the Premier League.

The forward feels he has hit the right tempo at the right time, which is showing up on the scoresheet.

"I think it is something that when you find a good rhythm and a good momentum, the timing seems to come with it,' Calvert-Lewin told Sky Sports after Sunday's match. "As a centre-forward, you can make a lot of runs sometimes and not get the ball.

"You need a lot of things to come together for it to be a goal. Thankfully at the moment my form is good, and I'm getting in the right places and I'm scoring goals."

Calvert-Lewin's scoring streak has lifted him up to eight Premier League goals on the season so far, fourth-best in the league. But while he is happy for any individual plaudits earned, the former Everton man says the team's results remain paramount.

To that end, Calvert-Lewin praised his teammates for overcoming a sluggish first half to claim the result against a stubborn Sunderland side.

"It's nice to achieve those things on a personal level," he said of his goal streak. "But for me I think the more pleasing thing is the performances we've been putting in as a team and a the results we've been getting.

"I think in the first half we were slow to get out the blocks. We could have done more and made it hard for ourselves. In the second half we were much, much better and that makes me proud."
