Manchester City will look to put a disappointing season behind them when they kick off their FIFA Club World Cup campaign next week in the USA.

Pep Guardiola's side is one of two Premier League teams competing in the newly revamped competition, as they look to retain a trophy they won in its previous guise two years ago.

Having lost their league crown to Liverpool and suffered defeat in the FA Cup Final, the tournament presents an opportunity to still lift some silverware in 2025, and Phil Foden believes they have every chance of doing so with Erling Haaland leading the line.

Speaking to DAZN, the England star praised his City teammate and the impact he has on the side.

He said: "When you go into the game and Erling's playing, you just expect him to score every game, that's how good he is.

"He doesn't even have to be involved much; he just knows in his head that if he gets one chance, he's putting it away. It just shows how good his mentality is, just to keep going, and the number of goals he's scored at a young age is incredible.

"He's a really nice guy, he's funny. On the pitch, we all know how good he is, he's unbelievable."

City begin their tournament against the Moroccan side Wydad in Group G, before ties against Al Ain and familiar foes Juventus in the USA, a year before the country co-hosts next summer's World Cup.

Foden is full of excitement for the experience he is set to face in the States, where he'll get to play in new stadiums and face opponents and teams he's not encountered previously.

Adding, "I hope the atmosphere is amazing, I'm sure it will be, and obviously to play at different venues as well, that's what I'm looking forward to.

"I'm just looking forward to all of it, to be honest. The stadiums, the fans, playing against the best teams, that's what you want to do, playing against the best people and the best players.

"I'm sure it's going to be entertaining for the fans to see all different teams, maybe teams that they've not really watched before. I'm pretty sure there'll be players that people have not really heard of that are going to shine, I'm pretty sure of that.

"I'm looking forward to meeting new teams and seeing what they're about. Everyone has their own style, and that's what they believe in.

"It's going to be a new challenge, a new opportunity and everyone's just looking forward to it."
