Lee Sharpe believes Manchester United could salvage something from their disappointing campaign if they win this season's Europa League.
The Red Devils are in 13th place in the Premier League and have struggled to find any form in their domestic campaign. However, they are through to the quarter-finals of the Europa League—their last chance of lifting some silverware.
Standing in their way in the last eight is Lyon, but despite their patchy league performances, former Red Devil Sharpe says they still have the ability to turn it on in one-off games, which could see them land the trophy.
"Do you know what? I think they have." he exclusivley told DAZN News, thanks to BetBrain, when asked if the club had a chance of winning the Europa League.
"I think they have a little bit of luck in cup competitions and I think they can turn up in big games as well.
"And I think they are a one-off game team at the moment and a cup run really suits them. The European competition as well takes a little bit of pressure off them, because they're getting hounded a little bit and getting slaughtered on regular occasions from the league.
"So I think it would be good to step away from league football and go into cup competitions and know that it's just a one-off game, fresh, and they can just go and have a go at it. They've got every chance of winning it."

A trophy would be a huge boost to manager Ruben Amorim, who's start in charge of the club has already been a roller-coaster ride.
However, Sharpe says lifting the Europa League would put the Portuguese boss in an ideal place to start building for next season.
Adding: "I think it would be a great start to next season, to the start of the rebuild.
"He's come in, he's had a look at the players, he's seen who could fit into the system. I'm sure he's got lots of ideas of who he wants to bring in and who he wants to let go. And if he could just win that trophy at the end of the season, I think everybody would be put in a bit of a brighter mood and on a bit of a higher scale.
"And he can possibly go out and buy a couple of better standard of players because of it."
