Barry McGuigan has full confidence that Adam Azim will beat Dalton Smith, but still believes the fight is still some way off from happening.
Azim and Smith both impressed earlier this year when they maintained their impressive records with one-sided showings.

Smith became European ruler at super-lightweight in January when he produced a dominant display to stop France’s Walid Ouizza in the opening session.
The following month, Azim also looked quality when he took out the highly respected Sergey Lipinets after being on top for all of the contest.
With both men displaying outstanding credentials and now seemingly on the verge of fighting for world titles, a clash pitting them against each other seems inevitable in the near future.
Eddie Hearn, Smith’s promoter, who will bring his man back to Sheffield on April 19 against Mathieu Germain, live on DAZN, has long called for a showdown with Azim.
McGuigan, whose son, Shane, trains Azim, would prefer to wait, believing the contest will be more beneficial for both fighters with world titles and bigger purses attached to the contest.
“You look at the likes of Hagler and Hearns, one of them had at least one world title before they fought, and that’s the way it has to be,” said McGuigan when speaking to Spinbit.com.
“We don’t care about what Eddie Hearn says. He’s a great provoker and a wind-up (merchant) but he’s a great promoter and we have great respect for him.
“We know Adam would punch the s—t out of Dalton but what’s the point in doing it when there’s no title on the line. We have to have to title, and it needs to be meaningful.”
