Joseph Parker is in a confident mood as he returns to world title level to face Daniel Dubois later this month in what promises to be a terrific battle.
The popular New Zealander tackles the in-form fighter on February 22, live on DAZN PPV, knowing that victory will make him a two-time world champion.
Just over two years ago, Parker’s career as a serious contender appeared to be over when he was badly beaten by Joe Joyce.
Parker regrouped brilliantly with Andy Lee as his trainer and his results since the Joyce setback have paved the way for this imminent showdown with Dubois.
Going into this contest, Parker has registered impressive wins over Deontay Wilder and Zhilei Zhang , so it is no surprise to see him enter the bout believing he is capable of putting on a good show.
Dubois has also secured big successes in recent times with Filip Hrgovic and Anthony Joshua being stopped on his way to becoming IBF ruler and defending the belt.
Parker is a significant underdog ahead of this latest battle, but despite conceding odds to his next rival, his mood is that of a favourite.
"I do believe I'm a better boxer. But he has shown grit, he has shown toughness. He does the basics very well. But I do believe [in] my boxing IQ, my toughness as well, I've got a good chin,” said Parker when speaking to Sky Sports.
"I've been waiting for this opportunity, been waiting for this chance and been waiting for a big fight. So this is my time now to go out there and show everyone what I've been doing while I've been waiting for a fight and it's my chance to be a two-time world champion.
"I'm taking it with both hands. I'm very excited for this opportunity. I know Daniel Dubois is going to come ready but I am as well."
