Promoter Frank Warren supports the decision made by the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) to withdraw Floyd Schofield from Saturday's Last Crescendo card.
Schofield was set to face WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson, live on DAZN PPV, as part of a historic card in Riyadh, but an illness on Tuesday saw Schofield taken to hospital.
Following an examination by a BBBofC doctor, Schofield was deemed unable to compete in the ring and speaking to The Stomping Ground, the decision is the right one in the eyes of Warren.
"If somebody’s in hospital, three, four days before a fight, you cannot let them fight," Warren said.
"If anything, God forbid, was to go wrong, how does the sport recover from that.
"The board of control have made their decision and what we’re doing now is looking for a replacement opponent and there will be one."
A replacement opponent for Stevenson has since been confirmed, Britain's Josh Padley.
Padley will be making his second appearance on a Riyadh Season card after beating Mark Chamberlain at Wembley Stadium in September, and now he will look to deliver a huge upset against a world champion who many are billing to be boxing's next big star.
