On November 14, two of boxing's divisive figures, Jake Paul and Gervonta 'Tank' Davis, will meet in a fight that has certainly raised eyebrows.
Since making his debut in 2020, Paul has yet to face a legitimate boxer, one who is still active and regularly tops major PPV cards. Now those who make this criticism have got their wish with Paul going head-to-head with one of boxing's hardest punchers in 'Tank' Davis.
For Davis, this is an odd move. He will be taking on someone who is physically bigger than him and will be hoping his hard hands can be the equaliser come the opening bell at Miami's Kaseya Center.
Before he steps into the ring with Paul, DAZN News profiles one of boxing's most exciting and action-packed fighters.
Gervonta 'Tank' Davis is an American boxer who has competed across three weight divisions, super featherweight, lightweight and super lightweight.
Davis made his professional debut on February 22, 2013, where he knocked out Desi Williams in the first session of a four-round bout at the DC Armory in Washington.
Since turning pro, Davis has wreaked havoc on his opponents with his explosive hands, creating numerous viral knockout punches and winning world titles at multiple weights.
'Tank' Davis has enjoyed world title success in three weight divisions.
At super featherweight, he held the IBF title in 2017 and enjoyed two reigns as the WBA's champion in 2018 and 2020.
Davis was also the WBA's champion at super lightweight in 2021, albeit the 'regular' version, and enjoyed a reign as the organisation's 'regular' titleholder at lightweight between 2019 and 2023.
He has since become the WBA's outright lightweight champion after Devin Haney vacated the belt in November 2023.
Davis has since made two successful defences, with his most recent ending in controversy.
Davis last fought in March when he faced Lamont Roach in a PPV main event at Brooklyn's Barclays Center.
The 12-round affair ended in a majority draw, meaning Davis retained his WBA lightweight belt, but it was a fight that many believed he did not win.
A moment of controversy struck in round nine with Davis taking a knee and referee Steve Willis deciding to not call the knockdown which could have had significant implications on the result of the fight.
It's no surprise that was something which Roach protested while Davis claimed some hair grease had got into his eye which caused him to take a break.
A rematch was supposedly scheduled for this past August, but those plans are definitely on hold for now with Davis deciding to face Paul instead.
The upcoming fight between Jake Paul and Gervonta 'Tank' Davis will take place on Saturday, November 14, and it will be broadcast live on Netflix.
The contest will take place at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida, which has a capacity of 19,600.
Davis is five feet, five and a half inches, which is significantly shorter than Paul, who is six feet, one inch.
The Barclays Center in Brooklyn was the stage for Gervonta Davis to win his first world title.
It came against the undefeated and reigning IBF super featherweight champion Jose Pedraza and was the first sign of how dangerous Davis could be with his hands.
The Baltimore fighter's accurate punches wore down Pedraza until the seventh round, when he was able to knock out his Puerto Rican rival.
Another world title shot for Gervonta Davis, another knockout performance.
But this time it was for the WBA super featherweight title against Jesus Marcello Andres Cuellar.
Taking place at the Barclays Center, Davis' first success came in round two when he knocked down Cuellar with a left hook, and this continued in the third with two further knockdowns, which brought the fight to an early end.
Gervonta Davis' clash with Leo Santa Cruz was his first on PPV, and he sure did make a statement with a knockout punch that went viral.
Cruz's WBA super featherweight title was on the line, and he was putting up a good fight in the early stages with both men trading plenty of blows, but it was Davis who set up the finish in the sixth.
Two left hooks to Santa Cruz's temple stunned the defending champion and set up a devastating left uppercut from Davis, which sent his opponent falling to the canvas and unable to continue.
The T-Mobile Arena hosted one of the biggest fights of 2023 when Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia finally went head-to-head.
In addition to bragging rights, the winner of this contest would become the face of boxing in the U.S., and it would be Davis who earned this accolade.
Despite a fast start from Garcia, Davis made his presence felt with a left hook, which floored his opponent in round two. Garcia managed to meet the referee's count, but despite showing tremendous courage, Davis continued to control the fight, showcasing his boxing ability and creating a comfortable lead on the judges' scorecards.
Davis then brought the fight to an early end in round seven with a brutal left to the body, which forced Garcia to take a knee, who shortly after failed to rise to his feet and forced the referee to stop the contest.
