Leading trainer names the major pound-for-pound superstar who could retire this year
Brian ‘BoMac’ McIntyre has been the man who has masterminded the incredible career of Terence Crawford, but he believes this could be his fighter’s last year.
Crawford has captured world titles in four weight classes, and he has been a four-belt holder in two of those categories after reigning at the top at super-lightweight and welterweight .
Crawford could come up against Canelo Alvarez, but first the Mexican must defeat William Scull on May 3 , live on DAZN .
The Nebraska man has made it clear for two years that the only fight he wants is Canelo and that could be become official once May is out the way.
With Canelo set to start that fight a favourite due to his size and quality, Crawford will have it all to do against his fellow four-weight world champion.
Win, lose, or draw, Crawford's legacy is already secure, but victory could take him up a few more levels when discussing the greats of the sport.
McIntyre, who cares passionately about his fighter, thinks this could be the right fight for Crawford to exit the sport with.
“F--k yeah. It probably could [be the last one],” said McIntyre when speaking to BoxingScene .
“It probably could. Yeah. Probably could.”
