Former WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has doubled down on his stance that he will remain retired.
Following a second successive loss to Oleksandr Uysk in December, Fury announced a month later that he would be hanging up the gloves for good.
However, over recent weeks, rumours have surfaced that a comeback could be on the cards with Fury pictured sparring along with his manager Spencer Brown dropping little hints about new boxing equipment being purchased by 'The Gypsy King'.
Fury has been mostly silent as these rumours have gathered pace, but he has now responded with the following post on Instagram.
"I hear a lot of 'The Gypsy King' returning to boxing. And I ask the question, for what?" Fury began.
"What would I return for? More boxing belts? Won 22 of them.
"I’m happy, I’m content with what I’ve done, what I’ve achieved, what I’ve accomplished.
"I’ve been around the world and back again, and here we are, this is what retirement looks like for 'The Gypsy King'.
"Not too shabby, I’m in no rush at all to come back boxing and get my face punched in, for what?
"So here we are, I’m retired and I’m staying retired. I’ve got nothing to prove to anybody, and nothing to return for."
Rumours of Fury's return to boxing generated plenty of excitement amongst fans who hoped a long-awaited showdown with Anthony Joshua would finally get made.
But with Fury confirming that he intends to stay away from the ring, that hope has vanished for now.
