Frank Bruno’s world title win

Frank Bruno finally defeated the odds to sit atop the heavyweight division in 1995 following a memorable win over Oliver McCall at Wembley Stadium.

Bruno had been unsuccessful in previous title tilts, but with this one likely to be his last chance of glory, he grabbed the opportunity with both hands.

Bruno would lose the WBC crown in his first defence against Mike Tyson, but his win over McCall is still fondly remembered three decades later.

Naseem Hamed’s American debut

Frank Warren had masterminded Naseem Hamed’s rise to world champion, but now he wanted to make him a household name in America.

At the backend of 1997, just before Xmas, Hamed took over New York City as he headlined at Madison Square Garden.

His legendary fight with Kevin Kelley, a fourth-round win, made Hamed an instant star, just years after Warren had taken a huge gamble on him.

Ricky Hatton rules the world

Frank Warren brought the brilliant Kostya Tszyu to Manchester in 2005 hoping that Ricky Hatton could be the man to defeat him.

The Australian superstar was near the top of all pound-for-pound lists, and many considered him to be too good for Hatton.

Instead, the local favourite produced a stunning performance to stop Tszyu in the latter stages of their contest ensuring Britain had a new world champion.

Tyson Fury becomes world champion again

In 2018, after three years out of the ring, Tyson Fury almost made a Herculean comeback when he climbed off the floor twice to rescue a draw with Deontay Wilder.

Two years later, just before lockdown gripped the world, Fury was better, and he proved to Wilder just how much he had improved since their first meeting by dominating the powerful American.

A third fight in 2021, a dramatic affair that saw both men on the floor, was once again won by Fury.

Daniel Dubois lights up Wembley

After enduring hard defeats against Joe Joyce and Oleksandr Usyk, many within boxing had given up on Daniel Dubois.

Frank Warren, his promoter, had backed him since day one and after Dubois was upgraded to IBF champion in 2024, his first defence would be against Anthony Joshua.

Dubois, a big underdog, stunned Joshua, and the crowd inside Wembley Stadium as he scored four knockdowns on his way to a fifth-round knockout.
