Unbeaten world champion with huge power ready to face Canelo Alvarez

Watch Canelo vs Scull May 3 only on DAZN PPV

Janibek Alimkhanuly maintained his uneaten record this past weekend as he defended his world middleweight crown with a fifth-round stoppage over Anauel Ngamissengue

The Kazakh puncher was dominant from the outset as he brutally went through the gears and the ending, which felt inevitable from the first bell, was a destructive one that will no doubt enhance Alimkhanuly’s standing in the sport.

Despite ruling the middleweight scene, Alimkhanuly is aiming even higher, and he is eager to test himself against Canelo Alvarez at some stage in the next year.

On May 3, live and exclusive on DAZN , Canelo will be in action when he looks to become undisputed champion at 168lbs for a second time when he goes in with William Scull in Saudi Arabia .

Victory for Canelo is expected to set up a September showdown with Terence Crawford and if he can register two wins in 2025, then he may be prepared to welcome Alimkhanuly to super-middleweight in 2026.

If that opportunity arises, Alimkhanuly, who has long demanded a chance to prove himself amongst the best boxing has to offer, is ready to take that challenge.

“When I just turned pro, I told my team I could fight at any weight,” said Alimkhanuly when speaking to  BoxingScene .

“So, if the opportunity comes to fight Canelo at super middleweight, or even David Benavidez, whether at a catchweight or at light heavyweight, I am prepared to take those steps in the future.

“My goal is to fully unify the middleweight division. I am going to stay here until I get all the titles. Of course, I will move up for the right offer but I want to become undisputed champion and don’t want to give the other fighters any excuses to avoid me.”
