Vergil Ortiz Jr. putting his interim WBC super welterweight world title on the line against Israil Madrimov on Saturday night is yet another highlighted fight from Riyadh Season’s The Last Crescendo at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and live on DAZN pay-per-view, which can be bought here.
With the winner putting himself in position for another big fight at 154 pounds, DAZN News analyzes the keys to victory for both fighters.
Ortiz loads up and leverages his power on body shots exceptionally well.
Rocking Madrimov’s body could go a long way to decelerating his motor.
Ortiz could do this with crunching left or right hooks to the body.
And if Madrimov lowers his guard in a sign of respect, Ortiz can hunt upstairs in piecing together riveting combinations.
Crawford had success mixing in uppercuts into the arsenal he fired at Madrimov and Ortiz could, too.
Madrimov tends to dip his head ever so slightly while trying to manufacture offense. If Ortiz can time an uppercut during those moments, he can do damage.

A left to the body followed by a right hand upstairs across the jaw is a combination that Ortiz could have success with against the rugged Madrimov who is so durable that he must be broken down.
Ortiz connecting on slashing, powerful right hands will help.
Madrimov feints and moves around the ring well and with a certain rhythm. Crawford knows this.
One of his best bets against Ortiz is to stick and move off feints as well. This way, he is constantly re-routing Ortiz and making the interim champ work while touching him along the way with a high punch count.
There were times that Madrimov fell too much in love with head hunting against Crawford.
But when he targeted the body, he found pay dirt.
He should look to at least make deposits with a jab to the body to keep Ortiz honest and thinking.
Mark Robinson/Matchroom Boxing
Madrimov has a sniper-like straight right hand that he should look to split Ortiz’s guard with.
He found a home with the punch quickly against Crawford and should assert it early against Ortiz, too.
Landing its mark repeatedly could frustrate Ortiz and have him reset his offense — something that Madrimov could use toward gaining an edge.
