Anthony Joshua's trainer Ben Davison is confident that a fight with Tyson Fury will happen, despite the latter being retired from the sport of boxing.

In January, Fury announced that he was walking away from boxing after suffering a second successive loss to unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk in December.

This news seems to have eliminated the possibility of the two rivals meeting in a contest which would bring the boxing world to a standstill. However, Fury has been known to frequently un-retire on numerous occasions, therefore a meeting with Joshua is not completely off the table.

"I think there’s more chance of it happening now than ever," Davison told Oddschecker

"With the introduction of Riyadh Season and them having the relationship with both sides, bringing all the broadcasters together and everything else we’ve already mentioned. It’s the fight that boxing fans want to see.”

Not only does Joshua vs Fury present the opportunity for fight fans to see two of Britain's best heavyweights go head-to-head, but the stark contrast in personalities would make for an intriguing and exciting build-up.

If the contest never takes place, there will be a feeling of huge disappointment with both Joshua and Fury natural dance partners, and this is a notion which Davison supports.

"It’s a legacy defining fight for them both. I always say, I think it’s crucial when you are coming through to have a dance partner and they’ve been each other’s dance partners for long enough now.

"I think it would have massive interest and it’s the one that everyone wants to see.”

While Fury may not be returning to the ring, Joshua is plotting his next move after being knocked out by IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium in September with promoter Eddie Hearn teasing big plans for the British superstar
